Just today, someone asked me, “… on a scale from 1 – 10, how important is video marketing?” I answered “very… a lot… 11… what was the question?”

Since I’m not the best with numbers, I asked our whizzes in research, and ace designers to make this infographic to help me demonstrate The Importance of Video Marketing. They did a stellar job, so you should definitely take the time to check it out. I will go over a couple of points I found particularly interesting.

Marketing tactics that combine video and audio information are more likely to be recalled by customers. By using both auditory and visual stimulation, a stronger connection is created with the viewer. According to PhD psychologist Susan Weinschenk, humans were long ago programmed with survival instincts to pay attention to movement. Combining both audio and visual elements increases the viewer’s focus and attention, and this helps them remember the ad. I think it is interesting to look at the next two points together: One-third of all online activity is spent watching video. Everyday, 100 million people watch a video online. So much of our online activity is spent watching videos. It seems like a missed opportunity if you do not have online videos for your business. It could be pre-roll commercials or user-created content, such as virtual tour of your business. I have to point out that the last stat is “…100 million watch a video online.” I think it safe to presume that some of these 100 million people are watching multiple videos a day – I probably watch an average of 5 – 8 online videos a day – because much like when eating Lay’s chips, when have you ever watched just one online video?
