In the third quarter of 2020, Facebook had more active users (1.82 billion) than China had people (1.39 billion). It’s safe to say that Facebook has become an incredibly important part of our lives and will continue to be that way for the foreseeable future.
Facebook plays an integral part in marketing, and it’s the reason advertisers can target the exact specific demographic that is needed for them to sell their product or service.
Whether you’re a Fortune 500 company or a small local business, Facebook is a powerful marketing tool – it’s a great space to keep customers informed, develop a brand identity, and reach a vast audience. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to set up your very own Facebook page.
Create a Business Page
To start the creation of your business page, you’ll first need to login to the website under your personal account. This information will not be shared on your business page. Once logged in, head to facebook.com/pages/create.
– Under “Page Information”, type in the name of your business.
– Choose your business category – Business, public figure, brand/community, etcetera.
– Type a short description about your business. What does your business do, what type of services do you provide, or what is the purpose of your page?
– Click “Create Page”
Add Brand Images
Upload a profile picture and cover photo that are inline with your brand values, voice, and standards. Make sure the images you’re using are optimized for the social network they are being used on. On Facebook, the recommended sizes for images are as follows:
– Profile picture: 170 x 170 pixels.
– Cover photo: 851 x 315 pixels with an ideal file size of less than 100KB.
To avoid any compression or distortion, upload a JPG or PNG.
Complete All Page Information
Be sure to fill in all page information so people visiting your page can learn everything they need to know about your business. Click “Edit Page Info” and fill in the following sections:
– Description: Maximize your description within the 255-word limit. Describe who you are, what you do, and where you’re located.
– Contact information: Fill in all the ways you want people to be able to reach you. Be sure to include your website if it is applicable to your business.
– Extra: If it’s relevant to your business, add your hours of operation, price range, privacy policy, and anything else that you deem necessary.
Create Your Vanity URL
A vanity URL (aka username) is how people will be able to find your business quickly. Your page username can be up to 50 characters long, but typically it should be the name of your business. Choose a search-friendly page name and if possible, use the same username across all your social media networks.
Add a Call-To-Action
A call-to-action button gives people an easy way to reach out to you, shop for your products, and engage with your business. Click “Add a Button” under your cover photo to set up a button that is best suited for what you’re trying to do.
Finalize Your Page Settings
Your newly created Facebook business page allows you to increase your online presence and will help attract the exact customers that will buy your product or service. Within your page settings, there is a variety of settings you can tweak to your preference. Take a look at the privacy and security settings, in particular, to make sure you understand what each one does.
