Good Photography… It Matters!

Gulf oil sign

I have to be honest… I (and I probably speak for everyone else in this office as well) cringe when I (we) hear someone say, “You know, I have a camera, I could probably just snap some photos of [insert product, event, head shots, etc. here] myself.” We know how important quality photography is and how vital it can be to showing off what you have to offer. There are a lot of examples of this. If you’re selling services, you want good photography of your people in action. But if you’re selling productions, you want GREAT photography of your products. Good just isn’t going to cut it. Because product photography is so important and we’ve seen so much poor product photography, that’s what we’re going to focus on today.

To help us demonstrate this, we are going to use some photography from a client of ours. We’ll show you some poor photography and some good photography they had been using before working with us and then compare it to the great photography that we are shooting and using for them, now. Then, we’ll explain how that photography has been effecting their sales.

Poor Product Photography:

Good Product Photography:

Great Product Photography:

Now, tell me… If you were comparing these all and they were right around the same price… maybe the “Great Product Photography” image was even just a little more than the others… Which one would you buy? In every image you can see that it’s a sign. In each image you can tell what the sign says, but in the “Great Product Photography” image you can really tell exactly what it is you’re getting (the colors are true and the details are sharp) and you can tell that it is a quality product.

Still not convinced? Well, this particular client has not only seen an increase of sales since their product photography has improved, but they have also been able to increase they prices because they can now show through their catalog and website just how high quality their products are. So… next time you go to reach for that camera to take that photo that’s going to be “good enough”, stop and think for a second. Even if your not doing product photography specifically. How is the image going to represent what you are trying to get across to people? Is it worth spending a little extra money?

At Transformation Marketing, we think so! And so do our clients. Once they’ve seen what we can do, they don’t go back to that little point and shoot that they used to use. Give us call and let us help show you the difference!
