…is YouTube!

Believe it or not, according to Aaron Elliot, a blogger for Social Media Today, YouTube is officially the second largest search engine to Google. This is not only an incredible fact, but also something that creates a unique opportunity for companies to advertise their business, services, and products.

Developed in 2005 by former PayPal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, YouTube is an internet site that allows billions of user to watch, upload, and share videos to each other and other websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and reddit. If it helps, think of YouTube as an on-demand, cable television channel that shows educational content, video blogs, music videos, advertisements, movie clips, promos and trailers, original content created by viewers, and even content from other networks like BBC and CBS!

If that wasn’t enough to convince you to use YouTube as a platform to promote your brand, here are some facts about YouTube as a multi-faceted, powerhouse that are quite compelling. On average, each month YouTube processes three billion searches. As of late 2013, YouTube hosts more than one billion unique visitors each month and over six billion total hours of video are viewed on a monthly basis.  Half of all internet users are also on YouTube, and YouTube reaches US adults ages 18-34 more than any cable network. Although it’s difficult to track due to millions of subscribers each day, it’s safe to say that, if YouTube were a continent, it would be right up there with Asia and Africa.

YouTube’s impressive statistics really do speak for themselves. If your brand isn’t using video to promote itself on YouTube now, it’s never too late to start. Call us today for more information about how your company can get started!
