Ok, forgive me for the title. But really, what’s the point of promoting or even maintaining social media accounts if it’s not driving customers through your door? Social media is important, really important, but can also seem unproductive if it’s not increasing overall revenues. Here are a few tips for turning those likes into loot!
- Social media reaches current customers. Social accounts are best used to reach out to those who are already customers. These people know you, probably like you if they’re on your Facebook or Twitter page, and want more from you. Social media accounts allow companies to exist in a more personal way and even have one-on-one interactions with people. Keep in mind that your brand’s social accounts should primarily be used to retain current customers.
- Add incentives to your social media posts. Most, but not all of the people visiting your social media pages are already customers. For those who aren’t, it’s not a bad idea to offer them something to become a customer. A coupon, voucher, or promotion blast on social media accounts is a good way to motivate a potential customer to do business with you. It may give you just the edge you need to bring them through your door instead of the other guys’.
- Produce attention-grabbing content. This one seems obvious, but it is the most important. Content is king, and this is especially true for social media accounts where tons of other information is just clicks away. Clever headlines and titles that make you go, “Hmmm,” are key ways to keep potential customers on your page. The longer they’re there, the more likely they are to become a customer. (I’m really good at this one, see above).
- Make sure there’s a call to action in your content. Great content isn’t great unless it motivates the viewer to do what you want them to do. Make sure your social media posts include a reminder to sign up for a program, come in for a demo, or even simply just buy your product. This approach is very straightforward but consequently very effective, so don’t let your viewer leave your page without being prompted to do business with you.
