Marketing with Emotion

by | Dec 27, 2012 | All Blogs, MARKETING

You can market to their brains all you want. Tell them why they need your product, what it does and how useful it is – but nothing will ever get them quite like marketing to their hearts.

Seriously. Think about it. Some of the companies with the largest following and greatest loyalty have done just this. Apple, Disney, Toyota and US Cellular… They are all examples of companies who people get emotional about. People don’t buy into their products. People buy into their companies. That’s what separates the good from the great.

So, how do you do it? You give your clients a product they can depend on, connect with your clients on a personal level and provide your clients with customer service they are not only satisfied with, but want to tell the world about.

Give them a Product They Can Depend On

If you don’t do this, you might as well forget the rest. People need services and products that they can depend on. Take Toyota for example. Shannon and Travis are huge advocates for Toyota. They’ve been purchasing Toyota vehicles for about 7 years now and they’ll tell you without hesitation that they are one of the most dependable vehicles on the road. This begins Toyota’s successful business. People purchase their products, love their products, can depend on their products and begin to spread the word.

Provide them with Quality Customer Service

Customer service is one area where most companies lack these days. It’s honestly sad how bad this has gotten. You might say, “I can’t always control how my employees treat my customers” but here’s what we say: Treat your employees how you would want to be treated and teach them to treat your customers like they would want to be treated. Most employers miss this, but it’s pure logic. Let it trickle down from you to your employees to your customers – it’s the golden rule – do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

Connect on a Personal Level

Which is more appealing: 1. We make children’s movies. 2. We create family moments.
How about here: 1. We build quality computers. 2. We believe in taking innovation to a higher level.
Or here: 1. We have good cell service. 2. We believe you should always be connected with your friends and family.
You picked 2 every single time, didn’t you? Disney, Apple and U.S. Cellular all do this. They connect with you on a more personal level. You feel like they care about you and are responding to your needs. Brilliant!

Although the first two steps in this process are up to you, we can help with the third step. We know that what we do is vital to every single company that trusts us with their business and we take that very seriously. That’s why we put our heart and soul into each of our clients and we hope you do too.
