In 2015 (they have not announced a firm roll-out date as of yet) Facebook will be changing the way businesses market themselves on Facebook. Here is what Facebook had to say, “As a part of an ongoing survey, we asked hundreds of thousands of people how they feel about the content in their News Feed. People told us they wanted to see more stories from friends and pages they care about and less promotional posts.” Due to this, Facebook is changing their algorithm to limit business posts that show on people’s News Feeds based on their content.
So far, you may be thinking, yes, this may effect me slightly. However, this is a bigger change than you think. Not only will your posts that come across as promotional be effected by this new change, but all your posts will. Facebook said that companies who do not abide by these new standards will see a significant decrease in their reach AND if they choose to continue with these posts, their reach will eventually be non-existent. (This means Facebook will stop showing your posts on people’s News Feeds altogether!)
At Transformation Marketing, we know how important it is to stay up on ALL the latest updates to all the social media platforms we use for our clients. However, this change truly proves that fact. We have done extensive research in this new change and are aware of the promotional lingo that Facebook will be looking for in 2015 as they are weeding out the promotional posts. This isn’t the only update in the past year that has significantly changed how we’ve marketed for our clients and it won’t be the last in 2015. If you simply do not have time to keep up with the updates, it may be beneficial for you to consider hiring a marketing company who does. Not keeping up with these types of changes can mean that your social media campaign becomes infective. Give us a call today so we can give you more information on how we can help you with your social media marketing. (And all your marketing, for that matter! We are an all-encompassing marketing company, after all!)
