Don’t Let “Stale” be the Hallmark of Your Social Media Campaign

by | May 29, 2015 | All Blogs, Social Media

So, you’ve got a Facebook page. And a Twitter account. And, last year someone told you that you should have Instagram, Pinterest, and Google+ accounts, so you went ahead and created those as well.

And now you’ve decided that a social media campaign is a waste of time because, even though people were liking your pages and posts and photos and tweets in the beginning, they’re not anymore. The comments and reviews left on your site(s) have become few and far between, which is frustrating, to say the least. What’s even more frustrating, though, is the amount of time that you’ve spent trying to build up your social media campaign – when you’ve got a sale going on you’re putting up posts and sending out tweets all day long and yet, somehow, your views are down and your interactions have become virtually non-existent.

So, you decide to say, “the heck with it!”

I mean, seriously, who needs a social media campaign, anyway???

The answer to that question is one simple word: YOU.

Creating a successful, stands-the-test-of-time social media campaign is NOT as easy as it may seem. And, while having a (successful) social media campaign is something that you know can be good for your business but…and here’s what it really boils down to…social media isn’t your business. Your business is crafting beautiful, handmade jewelry, or creating the perfect cupcake, or repairing cars, or running a one-of-a-kind boutique craft store, or… well, you get it.

However, social media IS our business.

In fact, we have individuals dedicated to nothing but the management of social media campaigns. What does this mean for you? Well, for starters it means that, by handing over the social media reigns to us, you’re able to place all of your focus and energy back where it rightfully should be….your business. It also means that “stale” will never be a word that people associate with any of your social media. Here’s why:

1. We’re able to post new, relevant content at key times to ensure that your visibility and reach are at their maximum. This means not over-posting (you don’t want to bombard your fans’ news feeds) and not under-posting (after all, the whole point of social media is to be social…you don’t want people forgetting about you!). It’s a balancing act, for sure, but it’s one that we’re quite good at. In fact, we spend a fair amount of time studying the current trends of each of our client’s industries to ensure that what we’re posting is both relevant and engaging.

2. When it comes to customer engagement, we know all the tricks of the trade (that’s one of the reasons were good at our jobs!). Some may seem obvious, and some not so much. Again, social media is all about being social – your fans want to interact with you…that’s why they’re your fans, after all! But, this means more than just asking them to “Like” or “Share” a post. It means reaching out in a way that not only speaks to them, but also motivates them to act – for instance, the fans of a business that create custom-made cupcakes might LOVE baking tips…fans of a business that deals with classic car restoration, not so much.

3. The flip side of customer engagement is that you have to be actively engaging with your customers as well. This could be in the form of contests, “customer of the week” posts, or fun things that have little to do with your business, but they would like to know or see, or a myriad of other options. What it boils down to, though, is this – your fans want to know that they’re important to you, that you see them, and that you love them as much as they love you!

There’s a LOT of other key ingredients that make for an “anything but stale” social media campaign, which need to be mixed at the right time, and in the right way for it all to work the way it should. Fortunately, these are all things the Social Media team here at Transformation Marketing excel at; and, because we work with a varied and eclectic mix of businesses and industries, we’ve become experts at finding the right “mix” to make your social media campaign a successful one!!!
