Like the famous quote in the movie, Jerry Maguire, “help me, help you.” One of the biggest problems that we as social media marketers face is a client who is unwilling to participate in content creation. While we are more than willing and able to create interesting content without help, it is very hard to give followers that sense of trust without first hand pictures and information.
You might be asking, what kind of content are we talking about? Depending on the type of business, information that we gather from clients can range anywhere from on the job pictures and testimonials to current charity work. Basically, any type of positive information or photos that will help the fans believe that they can trust you. This is what it all comes down to, trust! In my experience, there are three different reasons that people follow a business. The first one is the person who thinks the content is interesting, but has no actual intention of purchasing the product. While this follower does not sound very appealing, many times they are the ones who will share content with other potential customers. The second type of follower is the current customer. Typically these customers are happy with the product or service. Why would they be following you at all if they weren’t? The emphasis here should be to not put out any content that would offend them or change their positive views of your business. The third, and maybe the most important follower, is the potential customer. These are the types of customers who are looking for trust. One of the best ways to gain that trust is to show them first-hand accounts of what you do and how you conduct business. Pictures work great for gaining trust, particularly when the area of business is based off of the quality of the final product and when the volume of customers is low due to larger expenses.
Potential customers are always looking for a reason to do business with you. Charity work is a great way to establish a business as somebody who cares about the surrounding community, and by association, cares about them. Information like testimonials or customer reviews can be very beneficial as well because they work the same way word of mouth does. Literally any kind of information about your business is helpful, and the only way that you can get that information out on social media is to provide that to us!
The important thing to note is that when you hire a marketing agency to take care of your social media platforms, teamwork is still very much involved. When businesses communicate with marketing agencies, the possibilities for a successful social media marketing campaign can be endless!
