Welcome back to our Blogs about Blogs series! In the past Blogs about Blogs, we have told you about all the things you can do to improve your blog. Today we are going to tell you about the things NOT to do when blogging:
1 .Avoid getting too wordy. We suggest having 150-250 words per blog.
2. Your title doesn’t need to be too fancy. You will want something that is easy and searchable.
3. Don’t be afraid to use pictures or some type of visual aid. This helps to make the blog esthetically appealing.
4. Don’t exclude your readers, meaning that you should keep your blog interactive. Allow people to comment and ask for feedback. On that same note, make sure you respond to comments. If you don’t, it will discourage future interactions.
5. Stay out of a blogging rut by always having a running list of topics. This will also take the stress off of you if you have a deadline to meet.
6. Keep on a schedule. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should post frequently, but consistently.
7. One of the most important things to not do in a blog is make it a hard sell. Most people do not like a sales pitch and especially so if they are reading for entertainment purposes.
We hope this post gives you an idea of how to keep from committing a blog faux pas. Check back to our Blogs about Blogs series to find more advice on blogging!
