Advertising vs Marketing

by | Oct 26, 2012 | All Blogs, MARKETING

We touch on this in our Logo vs Brand blog, but let’s really hash it out. Although many people think advertising and marketing are one in the same. It’s not. Marketing is all encompassing. It’s your brand, online marketing, advertising, social media, networking, fliers… anything in the name of getting your company out there in front of people.
So, as you can see, advertising is only a piece of this. It includes paid, scheduled and strategically placed video, audio and/or graphic representation of your company. It could include billboards, newspaper, radio, television, online banner ads, etc. However, it does not include everything your company does to promote itself. There are still many other things you do, or should be doing, to get your name out there that do not fall under this umbrella but do fall under the marketing umbrella. – Make sense?

Now that you understand this, you can see that when we say that Transformation Marketing is a full-service marketing agency (not an ad agency) we mean that we can help you with your entire marketing strategy (not just the purchase and placement of ads, although we do that as well). This is good for you, as a client, because we can help you in deciding where your marketing dollars could be best spent all across the board. This is good for me because if we were simply an ad agency, I, as a Social Media Specialist, wouldn’t have a job.
