To create a video, you need to have a target or some kind of purpose in mind. There has to be some sort of message. Once you have that, you have to figure out how you’re going to share that message. To do that, you have to know who you’re trying to share it with. There are thousands of different ways to tell a story. What you need to figure out is the best way to share it so that the people you’re trying to reach will accept being the target of it.
Let’s take testimonial videos as an example. Anyone can create a testimonial video, because everyone has someone who will say something nice about them, but does the audience you’re trying to reach care about what someone else has to say about you? Would they prefer to simply know the benefits that you can provide them? Are they more likely to respond positively to you if you use comedy to entertain them? These are the kinds of questions you should be asking before you begin shooting for your project.
Understanding your audience and what they prefer, like and care about is an essential and often overlooked process in video creation. There are many people who simply do what they know how to do or the first idea that comes to their mind. This will get you a video, but it won’t be the best you have to offer or the best for your business and, most importantly, your target audience. Take the time to understand the wants and needs of who you’re trying to reach and create the best possible message for them. It will be worth it in the end.
